The week in Cotati: Feb. 24 – March 3
The Quarterly Speaker Luncheon presented by the Cotati Chamber of Commerce will take place from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb 26. Cotati Mayor Mark Landman will provide a State of the City Address and answer questions. Other topics include project graduation and subsidized employment program. The event costs $15 and includes lunch. It will be held in the Cotati Room of the Ray Miller Community Center, 216 E. School St., Cotati. 795-5508.
The Rohnert Park-Cotati Library has its usual slew of great programs geared for kids this week. On Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. there is Baby Story Time for children up to 17 months in age. Kids can Read to a Dog on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. On Thursday there is Wiggle Time at 10:15 a.m. for toddlers from 18 to 35 months followed by Preschool Story Time at 11 a.m. for the three to five-year-olds. The library is located at 6250 Lynne Conde Way.
You can Wine and Dine with local authors at the Redwood Cafe this week. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, sit down with local authors and enjoy great food and conversation. Each month the cafe invites a number of local authors to be on hand. The event is free and runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with books available in the cafe to purchase. Zuma Zuma! Associated Students Productions will be hosting a performance in support of Black History Month by Zuma Zuma, an African-style Cirque du Soleil on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Sonoma State. Zuma Zuma was featured on season six of the television show, America’s Got Talent. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Person Theater on the SSU Campus at 1801 East Cotati Ave. Tickets are $10 with SSU faculty, staff, and students getting in for free. The Miss Sonoma County Scholarship Pageant takes place this Saturday, March 2 at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center. This pageant is the longest continuously running pageant in the State of California and is a preliminary event to the Miss California pageant. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids. For more information, visit Misssonomacounty.com. For tickets, contact the Box Office at 588-3400. There will be a mystery dinner theatre presentation titled, Her Lips Are Sealed, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. This 1940’s murder mystery comedy is a Project Graduation Fundraiser taking place in the Rancho Cotate Multi-Use Room. There will be a three course meal along with the show. Tickets are $35 and available at CRPProjectGrad.org. Rancho Cotate High School is located at 5450 Snyder Lane.
