Do you want to find out how chamber music makes every instrument a star? The Instrumental Repertory Recital on Wednesday, Feb. 20 is a free event directed by Judiyaba and Marilyn Thompson that aims just to do that. This concert starts at 2 p.m. in Music Education Hall 1028 within the Green Music Center located at 1801 East Coati Avenue. (866) 955-6040.
A unique jazz concert featuring Matt Wilson’s Arts & Crafts will take place on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Green Music Center. The SSU Latin Band & Jazz orchestra led by Doug Leibinger will open the event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., followed by Matt Wilson’s group that features Martin Wind, Gary Versace, and Terrell Stafford. Tickets for the event are $15 for general, $12 for SSU faculty, and $10 for seniors and students. Students with an ID are free. Comedy Night at Sally Tomatoes starts this Thursday, Feb. 21. You can enjoy some of the North Bay’s best comics in front of the fireplace from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for free. Nick Hoffman and Brian Thomas will co-host the event. Sally Tomatoes is located at 1100 Valley House Drive. 665-9472.
Enjoy an Aebleskiver Breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to noon courtesy of the Penngrove Community Church. An Aebleskiver is a traditional Danish pancake and this annual event was part of the Penngrove tradition for many years. Breakfast includes coffee and juice. Donations for food will be accepted. On Saturday, Feb. 23 join Pam Brown for another story time presentation titled Greedy Goats. Starting at 11 a.m., kids between two and six can enjoy stories and crafts at the Rohnert Park-Cotati Library. This free presentation is supported by the Friends of the Library. The library is located at 6250 Lynne Conde Way.
The Battle of the Cover Bands is back at Sally Tomatoes on Saturday, Feb. 23 as a benefit for the Relay for Life. The doors open at 5 p.m. and all ages are welcome to this event. For $9.95 you get all you can eat salad, soup, pasta and pizza until 9 p.m. with all proceeds going to Relay for Life. Counterbalance will perform at the after party.
