Are you Ready for some Back to Track Basics with the Resurrection Girls? Come down to Cal Skate on Monday, Feb. 11 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and learn some skating basics. For a price tag of $10 you get training, skates, and gear to help you learn the basics of roller derby, get some great exercise, and prepare for tryouts. Promoting Women as Effective Community Leaders will be the topic on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the monthly Women in Business luncheon. The Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce is offering this program which this month will be held at Mary’s Pizza Shack. Laura Moss of the American Cancer Society will be the speaker for this event that runs from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is for both members and non-members. The cost is $25 in advance or $30 at the door for chamber members and $40 for non-members. Mary’s Pizza is located at 101 Golf Course Drive. For more information, call 584-1415.

On Wednesday, Feb. 13 there will be a free showing of “Marley” the Bob Marley documentary film. Associated Students Productions is presenting this in support of Black History Month at SSU. “Marley” shows the definitive life story of the musician from his early days to his rise to international stardom. The film will start at 8 p.m. in Ives 101 on the Sonoma State University Campus which is located at 1801 East Cotati Ave.

Island Passions: Two One-Act Operas continues at Sonoma State University this week. “The Deserted Island” and “Riders to the Sea” will be performed at the Evert B. Person Theatre on the SSU Campus with a 1 p.m. student matinee on Wednesday, Feb. 13, a staff and faculty performance on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m., a regular performance on Friday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. and concluding over the weekend with shows at 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Ticket prices range from free for students to $17. The Person Theatre is located at 1801 East Cotati Ave. For more information contact the Box Office at 664-2353.

Do you like to build with Legos? Come join the Lego Club on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Rohnert Park – Cotati Library for some family fun. This program starts at 4 p.m. and is geared for kids ages 6 to 12. For this free event, the library will provide the Legos and monthly theme. The library is located at 6250 Lynne Conde Way.

“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” finishes its run at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center. This musical comedy has won several Tony Awards and should be a laugh-filled show. Ticket prices are $26 general, $22 for seniors and $20 for students. Show times are Friday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 17 with a 2 p.m. matinee showing. The Spreckels Performing Arts Center is located at 5409 Snyder Lane. For more information contact the Box Office at 588-3400.

The Free Bookmobile will be making an appearance on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Cotati Oliver’s Market. Kids, parents, and seniors can stop by between 4 and 5:30 p.m. to pick up a few free books as they spread the gift of the printed work. Oliver’s Market is located at 546 East Cotati Avenue, Cotati.
