Cotati City Hall may get overdue roof repair

Cotati's City Council tonight will vote on whether to seek bids to repair its aging City Hall roof.

The roof leaks and has "exceeded its lifespan," the city's public works director, Damien O'Bid, said in a staff report.

The roof has been an issue for years, with staff and some citizens expressing concern about its safety.

The city had put off the repairs because of budget concerns, but after pushing into the black this year set aside $150,000 for the job.

According to O'Bid, what is being sought is a new composition shingle roof that will lower maintenance costs and provide better insulation for the building.

The building, originally a school, was built in 1922.

The item is on the council's consent calendar.
