FoodCycle promotors Williams and Heyman pose in April with the food services manager at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary in Brunswick, Maine.

Adam Williams, Cotati Creek Critters’ first intern and an SSU Environmental Studies graduate, will be honored at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Redwood Café in downtown Cotati for his cross-country bike trip raising funds and awareness for healthy school lunch programs that are locally and sustainably grown.

Williams and FoodCycle colleague Leah Heyman have cycled 4,500 miles from Brunswick, Maine, to San Francisco to call attention to issues surrounding food, farming, schools, childhood obesity, health and exercise. They began their journey on April 21 at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School in Brunswick, Williams’ hometown, and will share stories of their nine-leg trip at the Wednesday reception.

The Redwood Café is at 8240 Old Redwood Hwy, Cotati, 795-7868. For more information, contact Jean Wasp, 664- 2057.
