And tell TOWNS your thoughts regarding the rail system by commenting on this story.  Will you use SMART?  Where will you go?  Will it be for business, entertainment, shopping, commuting? Will the construction be a problem for you?

  1. Good bye to my good friends at Western Farm. Been buying feed from you for 30 years. But it is getting harder and harder to get across a town. Now it is going to get worse. And then, later it will become impossible. I’ll be paying a premium to pick it up closer to my side of the tracks, and you should sell out to condos.

  2. So glad to see that SMART is finally making ground. Its about time this place get alternative transport in place, like the rest of the world!!

  3. Way to go!! SMART

  4. I can’t wait to be able to take the train! It is a great way to travel. Glen Ellen used to have three trains going to Santa Rosa, San Rafael, and San Francisco area. Camp Meeker had a train to San Francisco. It is a safe and community oriented way to travel. Hoooray! I can’t wait.

  5. Unfortunately SMART is being built 40 yrs too late. Trains elicit either romantic or nostalgic thoughts or east coast or European sophistication. Wake up! Does anyone think Sonoma & Marin residents will embrace the inconvenience of this debacle? Sure, drive to a station, board the train, ride to the desired station and then what? Oh yeah, it’s now pouring rain and your work place is 5 miles from the station. Oops, yep, ya gotta now ride public buses with the poor folks. Oh, and you think the price of this project will be any where near the projected cost. Pay attention people!!!

  6. I can’t wait to see the changes that will come to Santa Rosa along with the train! I have lived here for 19 years. Rosa is ready for some change!
