Racing fresh from Cotati’s new, high-end customization and collision-repair shop, Eddie’s Paintworks, is Eddie’s Tot Rodz, a line of customized hot-rod pedal cars, strollers and wagons.
“This part of the business started totally by accident,” says proprietor and car-loving hot-rod artist Eddie Serrano. “I built one for my daughter, Lily, in 2009, and it’s taken off from there.
“Our exclusive ‘Rollers’ start as pedal cars,” explains Serrano, who was born and raised in Cotati and Rohnert Park. “But we transform them into totally badass strollers.” A basic roller, designed for kids six months to three years and adult-controlled, is $675.
Completely hand-built vehicles start at $950 and are designed, upholstered, painted to the same quality as a grown-up’s hot rod.
Serrano also offers a line of out-of-the-box pedal cars, like Sadface Taxi ($229), the ’65 Shelby Mustang ($300) or Red Baron airplane ($436), available immediately on-line through Pay-Pal or at the shop.
But the longtime car enthusiast is really looking to put your little one behind the wheel of his or her first custom car.

Very nice, but a bit pricey for Grammy this year!
These cars are so classy and made with perfection down to the tiniest detail, and come with excellent personal service from Eddie. They make a great family heirloom. I saw them at the Peggy Sue car show last June and loved them (and so did their little drivers!). We spend far more money on things of far less lasting value. One of these cars is a real treat for the whole family, for years to come! Soon to become a classic. Already there have been orders from places as far away as Minnesota and Brooklyn, NY!
